Dr. Martens are back...?

Dr. Martens are back...?

Here’s the tea.

Aside from being expensive, we have seen this trend before. When it died, it died hard. As in, people were judged for still wearing Dr. Martens for quite a while.

Remember when Steve Madden combat boots were also a trend? What about wedge sneakers? You wouldn’t want to be caught in those now, would you? Exactly.

So, while I am usually a fan of keeping up with trends and buying high-quality shoes, I don’t think this trend will last very long and therefore don’t plan on buying a pair.

First of all, the boots are not comfortable. Second, the trend could die any day now. Third, they are simply too expensive for a “trendy” pair of boots.

Now, let’s say I found a pair of these at a thrift store for a fraction of the price. Maybe I would consider purchasing them at that point. However, the trend argument still stands and I’d rather invest in more comfortable trendy shoes.

In addition, this is a nice way to introduce my waste-free summer challenge. Through this challenge, I am avoiding purchasing any non-sustainable/eco-friendly clothing items by solely shopping from B-corp type companies, thrift stores, and borrowing from friends. Thus, you will not see me with any new Dr. Martens unless a size 6 pair shows up on one of my thrift apps. For the same reason, I am not buying FILA sneakers any time soon.
